Server virtualization is either being employed or being actively investigated by the majority of enterprise users yet through 2009, 60% of production VMs will be less secure than their physical counterparts¹.

Traditional methods of isolating and securing servers such as firewalls and

VLANs do not translate well to virtualized environments - the static nature of these devices makes them too labor intensive and complex to support. Vendor virtual appliance solutions only apply to virtualized environments and force organizations to take a silo approach to securing virtual machines, adding more complexity and special training to already overburdened IT organizations.

Solution
